Rainy Days

Rainy Days

Remember when you worked day and night on your land- your farm,
always battling the heat and that sting in your eyes from the salt in your sweat?

All day long you prayed for rain, hoping for that day to rest and play.

Just like Easter or Merry Christmas day- scrambling children always near and gay-

Sewing up tatters while sparks and flames display-

near the hearth in the rocker that you made one day.

A chance to oil up the arms near a candles flame-

These days and those days are not the same.

No one knows about a rainy day-

complaining of the rain drops that are in their way.
