It's sad to watch the garden die so slowly,
in a world full of lonely so easily sold,
the pine aches constant and the booze isn't cold,
watching the garden die slowly,
yesterday you weren't old,
and the stones wash to be seen by rain pit days of old
the race cars in a distant six mile long weed riddled yard,
push the parts in a heap from the mowers broke down,
every rickety truck ride all the way into town,
to watch the garden die slowly,
the oil stain on the ground
All the corn muffins cooling on a breeze
floating out through the yard,
Walter Brennan with his stories about family so proud,
every hand was a value and they all were abound,
Not watching the garden die slowly.
